In the current era of IoT, wearable tech, and ever-shrinking electronics, system-in-package (SiP) is a crucial technology for creating small electronics that still have high performance. sip are tiny packages that combine many different components into one single integrated circuit. This includes all the necessary elements for an electronic device to function.

There’s no denying that SiPs are changing the future of electronics, but what exactly do they do? What benefits does this new technology offer? You will learn more about sip and how they’ll change the way in the following chapters. What is System in Package (SiP)? A SiP is a small, integrated circuit, with integrated circuits usually being about 1 mm x 1 mm x 1 mm. The silicon that’s used to make these small, complex circuits is so thin that you can barely see it with your naked eye. SiPs are primarily used in small, mobile electronic devices like smartphones, tablets, and drones. In fact, Apple is said to have exclusively been using SiP for its internal components in its iPhone X. The benefits of SiPs Reducing System Complexity - When you think of today’s electronics, you probably don’t immediately think of how small they are. Most devices today have components inside that make them relatively complex to produce and, as a result, extremely expensive to manufacture. As a result, component manufacturers have started to create SiP packages, where the vast majority of components are located in one, single package. This allows companies to reduce the size and cost of their devices, meaning they can produce them more efficiently. As well as dramatically reducing the cost of manufacturing devices, SiP also reduce the overall complexity of these devices. It’s mainly used in wearable tech, or miniature devices like smartwatches. The prices for SiP for wearable tech are even more expensive than a normal smartphone. Conclusion When thinking about system-in-package, it’s important to understand the limitations and how this technology is changing the future of electronics. SiP in its current form, particularly from Intel, is quite limited. SiP are mainly designed to be a smaller version of standard, high-performance module that make them better efficient than standard chips. Overall, SiPs are here to stay, and will likely stay a key aspect of the electronics of the future.
