Attributes of Mechanical Material

Basically, the product we’re using today, has been manually generated under the applications and guidance of the distinctive industries, in one way or another mechanically. For the effectiveness, every mechanical material is endured for the test, to be in a perfect shape, perfect quality and so on. Few of those process for qualification test, has been enumerated below:

Tensile Test and Stress Curve


A tensile test is a basic procedure test in material mechanics. It has been operated by pulling an instance of mechanical material apart until failure. When measuring the force and displacement, that results in some stage called Stress/strain curve. This exposes the materials reaction and reinforce to it.


Attributes of Mechanical material


· Stiffness the ability of materials to obstruct the deformation or deflection under the action of loads as well as evaluated under the design of springs.


· Elasticity a property of metal that can be restored its original position after deformation when its loaded.


For instance, take the iron ball and rubber. While giving the impression on the load, that becomes deformation by default. Then release, the load on the iron ball. Once it happened, the rubber returns to the normal, is evaluated as elasticity.


· Ductility – the property of a material, which can be leaned to thin wire while inserting into the machine.


· Brittleness – the property of a shattering material, which is not able to form permanent deformation.


· Plasticity – the process of metal that cannot be restored to its original one when the loading of deformation is completed. That means, there can be an impression of the loaded object is materialized and never able to back to the commencing stage.


· Toughness – capability of the material, able to sucking up energy both elastically and plastically deform when it is loaded


· Hardness – the type of metal, can be permitted to resist any indentation or abrasion.

· Fatigue – the capability of material, to resist the crack when it is operated to cyclic loading.


· Machinability – the ability of material, which can be feasible to shape the product by drilling, bending etc.


· Malleability – the feature of metal by which can be characterized of small plates.

Assume an iron rod with certain diameter, by giving a compressing load on it. Then, it transforms to a round plate. Sequentially the plate is loaded to the forging operation with heat and it turns to a perfect plate. Hence, the material which is applicable to it, is called malleability.
